D.M.P. (in 500 words or less)

Do More Poi is about - you guessed it - Poi. It was started by me, a guy from the north west of England called P. Coleman (spin) thats my ugly mush over there on the right. I started it because at the time there was a severe lack of good poi lessons on the net. It proved to be a popular decision as the hits grew into emails which were replied to and then into many more emails which weren't. The message board was then born.

Run a community ?

I wasn't sure this was a wholly wise thing to do as these things can be a lot of work and can also be very loose cannons indeed but after much consideration I went for it. A simple rule was applied "be cool or you're banned" the site was then dedicated to poi and the encouragement of learners. The community grew and the lessons were added to via the message board with the help of the sites members (mostly Goldie and Gizmo) for which I and dmp are eternally grateful.

Here and now

We are now established as a leading provider of online poi lessons and are seen very much as an independant voice in the fire spinning scene. Our success comes from the work put in on the content and our encouragement of learners. It has been a wild ride :

  • I now knows things about the internet and websites that I never even wanted to know.
  • we have performed professionally as a group.
  • delivered workshops.
  • held real world fire spinning meets on a number of occasions.
  • developed a name for ourselves in the fire spinning scene.
  • helped countless people grasp that poi move they are struggling to learn.

And there are actually two people running around out there with the dmp symbol tattooed on them!

Thats kinda freaky really when you are me :) It fosters a feeling of responsibility, this site has to be around for at least as long as those tattoo's. So onwards it is. DMP is already looking at ways to innovate, grow and be here forever. The future holds many possibilities, poi lessons however are assured as is a nice and safe attitude towards people trying to learn our beloved art form.
